About Camp Computer Curriculum

A set of technology projects for a camp or computer club. These projects can be used for children ages 7-12. Children have fun learning about the computer by becoming pirates, knights, stockbrokers, artists, and more!

Contents of a Camp Project

Each camp technology project includes a teacher guide and resource files.

  • The teacher guide contains step by step instructions explaining how to complete the activity.
  • The resources are customizable and include parent letters, certificates, templates, and sample files.

Structure of a Camp Project

A camp technology project has four sessions. Each session contains teaching strategies, learning objectives, lesson plans, and assignments. It would take approximately sixty minutes to complete a session.

Computer Camp, Club, or Classes

The technology projects in the Camp Computer Curriculum can be used in multiple ways. For example:

  • Computer Camp: Generate revenue by running a full-day computer camp for kids.
  • Camp Rotation: Incorporate themes into a camp program as one of the activities throughout the week.
  • Workshop: Offer a technology project as a full day workshop or as two half-day workshops.
  • Computer Club: Provide a lunch hour computer club at a school.
  • After-School Program: Offer computer classes as part of an after-school program.
  • Integrate into Curriculum: Integrate the technology projects into school curriculum.

Microsoft Office for Kids

TechnoKids has developed instructional materials that make using Microsoft Office fun for kids. The lesson plans are designed specifically for children.

  • Templates: Technology projects include templates that students use to organize data in Excel, and create a treasure chest and medieval shield in Word.
  • Sample Files: Sample files give students the "big picture" and act as a source of inspiration.
  • Teaching Strategies: Throughout the instructions are strategies and teaching ideas instructors can use in a camp, workshop, or computer class setting.
  • Group Work: Cooperative tasks encourage students to collaborate. They film, hunt for treasure, or buy stocks.
  • Organizers: Planning sheets are included to help students organize their ideas.
  • Fun Themes: Activities are designed to be fun and exciting for children. They become pirates, knights, and artists.

Children are introduced to Microsoft Office applications by completing activities that are fun! They learn how to use:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Microsoft Access
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Paint
  • Microsoft Movie Maker
  • Internet Explorer

I love the TechnoKids curriculum. I think it has helped me expand my business, as I can offer more classes to a wider range of audience.
