students in a game of strategy called "You Found my
X Cell" to learn spreadsheet basics. This game is
similar to the family favorite Battleship. It is a
great way to teach students spreadsheet terminology,
cell references, and how to enter and format data in a
cell. Who will be the first to say, "You found all
my X cells"?
Part 2: EXCELlent Word
Search
Your students will
enjoy learning spreadsheet skills when they make a
challenging word search for their friends. This fun
activity teaches how to:
- add data into a cell
- format text
- merge and center cells
- fill a cell with color
- format borderlines
- insert clip art
- adjust column width
- set print settings
Part 3: Mad Lib with
EXCELlence
Teaching advanced
spreadsheets skills can be FUN! Have your
students learn about 3D cell referencing, by making
silly sentences in the style of a "mad lib". A mad
lib is an unexpected sentence or story that is
created using words that a person selects.

Part 4: EXCEL your
Brainpower with a Quiz
Have FUN with
FUNCTIONS. Follow the detailed Microsoft Excel
lesson plans to make a multiple choice quiz created
using if-then statements. If-then statements are
formulas that are used to display a particular type
of response based on the answer that is entered into
a cell. For example, if a person types in
the correct answer to a multiple choice question,
"You are smart" will appear in a cell but if the
answer is incorrect then, "Try again" will appear.
