teaching ideas for a theme based pirate day. |
Are you looking for fun activities
that your students will enjoy? TechnoPirate has everything you need!
The lesson plans are
divided into four parts:
- Pirate Costume
- Sail the Seven Seas
- Make a Treasure Map
- Treasure Hunt
|
Part 1: Pirate Costume
Ahoy, me hearties! The fun
begins when students use Microsoft Word to create a pirate
hat and eye patch.
Look like a REAL pirate!
Next, they create their own parrot using a custom
Microsoft Word template. This two
sided companion is fun to tape on each students' shoulder.

Part 2: Sail the Seven Seas
Students team up for an Internet
treasure hunt to locate various objects. Each found item gives them
access to a new clue. Can your students use these clues to reach the
treasure?
Players start in Home
Port. They are given a scroll with a clue. They must locate
this item on the Internet. When they do, they can sail to
the next island where a new scroll awaits.

The goal is to be the first
team to reach Treasure Island! Students keep track of their
journey by moving their ship from island to island using the Pirate
Map.

Part 3: Make a Treasure
Map
Students learn mapping skills as they use the drawing
tools in Microsoft Word to make a map of the computer lab. Students
include objects in the room that serve as landmarks, providing a
detailed map that any stranger to the area could follow.

Part 4: Treasure Hunt
The fun continues when
students use the treasure map
of the computer lab to follow direction clues to see if they can find
where "X marks the spot". Your students will have lot of
fun by following the cryptic clues: Take four steps to the North,
turn East, and take 10 steps. Look down to find the treasure!
