shine! TechnoOlympics is full of FUN theme-based
teaching ideas to provide the total Olympic experience. |
Host the TechnoOlympics in your
computer lab. Students proudly represent their country in the events
TechnoGymnastics, Internet Hurdles, and Graphic Relay. Striving to
win the gold each participant must prove they can be faster, higher,
and stronger than their competitors.
Host the TechnoOlympics
When you order TechnoOlympics you
receive everything you need to host an authentic Olympics. You can
create your own Olympic Village using the following resources:

Students form teams. Each team
represents a country from the TechnoWorld. To get your students

Country Flags
Each country in the TechnoWorld has
a flag. Students fly this flag as part of the TechnoOlympics opening
ceremony.

Country Profiles
Each country has its own profile.
Students read the profile to learn about the country they will
represent in the TechnoOlympics. Each profile includes the capital
city, population, product, national anthem, money, and places to
visit.

Opening Ceremony
In the TechnoOlympics technology
project, the fun begins when students arrive in the TechnoOlympic
Village. They must create their own security card using Microsoft
Word to give them access to the services within the village.
Afterwards, the opening ceremony commences with the lighting of the
TechnoOlympic flame.
To help make the security card in
Microsoft Word you
receive:
- Detailed instructions for the
opening ceremony to make it similar to the "real" Olympics
- Sample security card
- Security card template
- Digital images of each country flag to
personalize the security card
TechnoGymnastics
In the TechnoOlympics technology
project are detailed instructions for the TechnoGymnastics event.
| In this event,
students show their artistry and technical ability in a
slide routine; an event set to music where gymnasts use an
entire slide during the routine to score big points with the
judges. |

Using Microsoft PowerPoint they
position images and choreograph the movement to ensure that the
performance receives a perfect score.

Internet Hurdles
In the TechnoOlympics technology
project are detailed instructions for the Internet Hurdles event.
| In this event,
competitors race through the World Wide Web, jumping from
hyperlink to hyperlink in search of specific items. Those
who can jump the hurdles the fastest will take the gold.

Internet Hurdles
Racetrack The
Internet Hurdles Racetrack is a
handout that contains a racetrack. Around the track are "hurdles".
Each hurdle is an item that must be found using the
Internet. How fast can your students get around the
racetrack? |
Graphic Relay
In the TechnoOlympics technology
project are detailed instructions for the Graphic Relay event.
| In this event,
students form a team with their fellow countrymen and women.
They race against time to be the first to draw each
challenge. |

The race begins as the first team
member places a floppy diskette into its drive and opens a paint
program. Following a set of instructions to draw a picture the first
team member then saves, exits, and ejects to pass the diskette onto
the next team member who carries out a similar challenge. When the
final team member ejects the diskette, the race is complete. Who
will be the first to cross the finish line?
