TECHNOIMAGES TECHNOLOGY PROJECT

Digital Art Lesson Plans

Teacher Guide - Student Workbook - Resource Files

Spark the imagination! Use the FREE software PhotoFiltre, along with step-by-step instructions, to create artwork. Hang each masterpiece on a PowerPoint slide to produce a digital art gallery.

Express Yourself as Digital Art

In the TechnoImages technology project, students take a journey of self-exploration. They express their mood, style, and attributes as digital art.

Digital Art Projects

  • Experiment with Color: Modify the color in a picture to discover how it changes the overall appearance.
  • Express your Mood: Study famous paintings and notice how color changes the mood. Apply this knowledge to alter the color in a self-portrait to express mood.
  • Art Styles: View a presentation about artistic styles. Notice how the elements of design in each picture are unique. Use photo editing software to apply filters to change the design elements in a picture to recreate the artistic styles studied.
  • Express your Style: Apply knowledge of filters to transform a self-portrait into a picture that expresses "style".
  • The Art of Text: Experiment with text to create fun looking stencils with color, texture, and patterns.
  • Visual Poetry: View samples of artwork that uses words to convey a message. Compose an acrostic poem, and transform it into visual poetry.
  • Net Art: Arrange artwork onto slides and display the digital art gallery as "Net Art".
Get Inspired!

Prior to each activity, students study paintings created by a variety of artists as a source of inspiration.

Who are You?

Once the students' imagination has been sparked, they use the tools in PhotoFiltre to create digital art that reveals "who they are".

Reflect on Artistic Choices

After each piece is created, students arrange the artwork in a digital art gallery, by placing each image on a PowerPoint slide. Below each picture in the Notes Pane, they explain their design decisions, production techniques, and the meaning of the work.

Net Art

Once all the artwork is completed, the digital art gallery is transformed into "Net Art", which allows the digital art to be seen on the Internet. Posting the file to the Internet is optional.

Net art is a digital art gallery posted to the Internet.

Elements of Design

The emphasis in this project is placed on the elements of design and how they influence the appearance, feeling, and meaning of a picture. Students learn how to use digital art tools to adjust:

  • line
  • texture
  • space
  • form
  • color
  • shape

By "playing" with these elements students are able to dramatically alter their images.
