Part 1: Create a
Badge

Part 2: On the Case
The "techno"
detectives are assigned cases they must solve,
including Bubble Trouble, Jewel Thief, and Honda
Civic Crime Ring.
Follow the instructions to
use the TechnoDetective database. Students learn how to narrow down the
list of possible suspects by filtering the records
in the database using clues. Afterwards, they book a
suspect by adding a record into the TechnoDetective
database.

Part 3: Stolen Bits
and Bytes
The "techno"
detectives are assigned to the Case of the Stolen
Bits and Bytes:
Someone is using the
Internet to break into people's computers and steal their files.
Bits and bytes of data are missing from the hard drives of major
corporations. Who would be taking this information and why?
This case requires that the
"techno" detectives go undercover, which means limited contact with
headquarters. To prepare for this assignment, students generate a
query and print a report about computer-related crimes using the
TechnoDetective database. This information gives the detectives some
tips on who they should be watching during the
investigation.
Part 4: Undercover
Investigation
The "techno"
detectives go undercover. They take a job at
International Computers Inc. Working with a small
team of detectives, they are given clues to narrow
down the list of suspects.
This clue tells whether the suspect
is male or female.
Once students solve the case, they
must report to headquarters about the breakthrough in the
investigation by sending a message. This top secret notice is
created using Microsoft Word.
