Primary students
produce a multimedia report about their city using Microsoft
PowerPoint. The
report is created using a template designed
for beginners. |
Using Microsoft PowerPoint,
students create slides that illustrate facts about their city or
town. Their report will include a street map, weather report, and
information about community helpers. Students learn how to insert
and then format graphics and text to complete each slide. Simple
animation and transitions are added to the slide show to make a
fabulous report.

Teach Primary Students Mapping Skills
Students make a simple map of a
street in their city. They acquire basic map making skills by
placing clip art in locations on the map. Students follow
instructions to place objects beside, on, in, and under, to produce
a detailed map of the street.
Teach Primary Students about Weather
Students learn about weather.
Included with the technology project are Weather Cards. Weather
Cards are cards that include pictures of different types of weather,
clothing, and activities. Students sort the cards to match the
weather to the clothing and activities.
Afterwards, students follow
detailed instructions to illustrate the weather in their city.
Students practice their skills by inserting weather-related clip art
and motion clips onto a slide. They insert, resize, and position the
clip art on the slide in an attractive manner to show a typical day
in their city.
Teach Primary Students about Community Helpers
Students study the people that help
make their community special. Students learn about community helpers
such as a doctor, nurse, firefighter, police officer, teacher, and
hairstylist. Included with the technology project are Community
Helper Cards. Community Helper Cards are cards that include pictures
of different professions and tools. Students sort the cards to match
the profession to the tools.
Afterwards, follow detailed
instructions to explain the importance of their people on the next
slide of their report using clip art, motion clips, and eye-catching
text.
