TECHNOCELEBRITY TECHNOLOGY PROJECT

Microsoft PowerPoint Lesson Plans

Teacher Guide - Customizable Resource Files

TechnoCelebrity technology project A celebrity has just gone for an EXTREME makeover. Report on the new look by creating an e-tabloid using detailed Microsoft PowerPoint lesson plans.

The E-Tabloid TechnoStar

In the technology project TechnoCelebrity, students work for the e-tabloid TechnoStar. As celebrity reporters they write about the activities of sports heroes, models, pop idols, and movie stars. Their publication keeps people up-to-date on what the rich and famous are saying, doing, and wearing. A popular celebrity has just gone for an EXTREME makeover. Students prepare a report on this new look.

The lesson plans are divided into four parts:

  • Celebrity Sighting
  • Extreme Makeover
  • The E-Tabloid
  • Fan Reaction

Part 1: Celebrity Sighting

The fun begins when students watch a sample e-tabloid of a celebrity makeover in Microsoft PowerPoint. The e-tabloid includes celebrity facts, a video of the celebrity morphing from their "before" picture into the new look, and a comment box for fans to write their comments.

Students then select a celebrity. To prepare for their report students gather some “before” shots of the famous person. Next they research basic information about the celebrity. Students use the Celebrity Biography handout to organize the facts.

Part 2: Extreme Makeover

Students give the celebrity an EXTREME makeover. Lesson plans include three different activities including the plastic surgeon, body clinic, and salon. These three activities present numerous makeover options. Aside from selecting one of the options, consider combining them to create a fun activity.

  • Plastic Surgeon: Transform the celebrity. Draw, paint, and airbrush over the celebrity picture in Microsoft Paint.
  • Body Clinic: Sculpt the celebrity a new body. Select the head of the celebrity and paste it onto another body using Microsoft Paint.
  • Salon: Make over the celebrity. Visit makeover websites to apply makeup, style hair, and add accessories to the celebrity.

Next, students use the FREE software WinMorph. They use the software to morph the "before" picture of the celebrity into their "new look". This software is easy to use. To download WinMorph visit  http://www.debugmode.com/winmorph/

Part 3: The E-Tabloid
