Microsoft Word for Primary
Students
Using Microsoft Word can be
difficult for primary students, but not with the technology project
TechnoBook. The TechnoBook technology project includes colorful
templates with a
custom toolbar limited to only the tools students need.
Students acquire word processing
skills gradually. To start, they learn how to resize and move
clip art. Using the template, A Mess, they make the story look
great.
- Move clip art to sequence
events.
- Resize clip art to show big,
bigger, and biggest.
- Illustrate a scene by moving
and resizing clip art.
Students learn to move clip art by
sequencing events.
Next, students learn how to insert
clip art into a Microsoft Word template, by illustrating the story
At the Zoo. Your students will have fun learning how to search for
zoo animals in the clip art gallery.
Afterwards, students make the
template, I Like You, look great. This activity requires that students
format the appearance of text. They change the look of words by
customizing the font, font style, font size, color, underline style,
and font effects.
Students learn how to format the
appearance of text.
Once students are familiar with
basic word processing skills, they write their own story using the All About
Me template. This simple story is written by completing sentences. For
example, I like to play ____. When students are finished writing
their story, they illustrate each page.
Write your own stories using
Microsoft Word. Included with the technology project TechnoBook
is the My Story template. This template comes with a custom
toolbar, title page, and story pages. Have your students use the
template to write their own stories.
