Microsoft Word for Primary
Students
Using Microsoft Word can be
difficult for primary students, but not with the technology project
TechnoAuthor. The TechnoAuthor technology project includes colorful
templates with a
custom toolbar limited to only the tools students need.
Students acquire word processing
skills gradually. To start, they learn how to format text by
editing the appearance of words in the fairy tale, The Frog Prince.
This custom template makes using Microsoft Word easy and fun.

Next, students learn how to insert
clip art into a Microsoft Word document, by illustrating the fairy
tale
Wags Finds a Home. Your students will have fun illustrating the
silly story of a dog who juggles to cheer up a friendly old woman.
Students learn how to insert clip art
and change object order.
Afterwards, students complete the
fairy tale about a sad princess using a story starter template. Students complete the story by:
- writing a title for the story
- writing a reason the
princess is sad
- writing a solution that will make the princess happy
- illustrating the story using clip art
The fun continues when students
plan, organize, write, and edit their own fairy tale. They use a
storyboard to organize their story ideas, a template to write and
illustrate their story, and a checklist to edit the fairytale. When
printed, these
books are wonderful to share with parents.

Write your own stories using
Microsoft Word. Included with the technology project is the TechnoAuthor template. This template comes with a customized
toolbar, title page, and story pages. Have your students use the
template to write their own stories.
Keyboarding Skills:

to stack clip art
- apply a border around
the edge of the page

to correct errors
