Technology Integration

Lesson Plans for Teachers

Technology Integration Icon In this project, educators acquire skills to integrate technology into curriculum. They complete simple technology projects, write a technology lesson plan, and learn effective teaching strategies.

Session 1 Technology Integration

Educators are introduced to technology integration. To start, they consider the importance of the computer in society with a focus upon education. They read about technology integration, its importance, and instructional goals. Afterwards, educators complete a checklist about their current use of technology and integration of computers into classroom activities.

Next, educators learn about the process for designing activities that integrate technology. Four steps are outlined for curriculum development. A sample activity is then given to demonstrate the decision making that is involved when integrating technology.

Educators then study sample technology projects to gain an understanding of the interdisciplinary nature of technology integration as well as the technology skills required to complete the task. Assignment 4 Samples of Technology Integration

The session ends with an examination of project based learning:

  • What is project based learning?
  • What does it have to do with technology integration?
  • What are the benefits?

Session 2 Simple Technology Projects

Educators complete simple technology projects to acquire basic technology skills and gain an understanding of technology integration. Following detailed lesson plans they:

  • create a report in Microsoft Word
  • graph survey data in Microsoft Excel
  • design a presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint
  • conduct Internet research
Assignment 7 Technology Integration and Microsoft Excel After each activity, educators reflect about where in the curriculum they could complete a similar technology project and how the technology skills could be applied to create different technology projects.
