Introduction to PowerPoint

Microsoft PowerPoint Lesson Plans for Teachers

Intro to PowerPoint Icon Educators are introduced to PowerPoint by creating a presentation for an Open House. The presentation informs parents about the curriculum, classroom, and events using a range of slide layouts and formatting skills.

Session 1 Microsoft PowerPoint Basics

Educators prepare to create a presentation for a school open house. To start, they learn about presentation software and the tasks that it can perform. Afterwards, they open Microsoft PowerPoint, the program they will be using to create their presentation, and label the window.

Next, educators view a presentation to gain an understanding of the content of the slide show, as well as the program features available within PowerPoint. With educators inspired, they now use a planning sheet, provided with the instructional materials, to organize the information to include in their own presentation.

These skills are applied to create a slide about school events that includes bulleted text and clip art.

Step by step instructions teach skills such as how to apply a style to a table, adjust cell size, merge and split cells, and align text.

Next, they produce a slide that contains a graphic organizer used to summarize extracurricular activities. PowerPoint skills are applied to create a slide that has contact information, as well as a hyperlink to the school website. PowerPoint lessons that describe how to make a graphic organizer.
