Kid Pix Deluxe Lessons

TechnoNumbers Icon Kindergarten students take the number challenge as they explore the fun tools in Kid Pix Deluxe 4. They draw, count, and sort the numbers one to ten as they create unique designs.

Session 1 Number Challenge

In the first session, students take the Number Challenge. To prepare for this task, students associate a number with the correct amount of objects by viewing the Counting Fun cards. Next, they open the program Kid Pix Deluxe 4 and experiment with the Draw, Color Picker, Oval, Rectangle, Undo Guy, and Start Over tools. Once familiar with the program, students are instructed to draw a selected number of objects. After completing each challenge students use the Start Over tool to explode their efforts to erase the canvas, so they are ready for the next challenge.

Kindergarten students count using the Counting Fun resource.

Session 2 Numerous Numbers

To practice the skill of counting, students watch the I Can Count show, provided in the TechnoNumbers resources. For each screen, they say the number name and count along with the animations. Next, students practice making numbers by completing a tracing activity. Afterwards, the tools in the program Kid Pix Deluxe 4 are used to paint numbers using various art mediums, textures, and colors.

Session 3 Number March

In this session, children complete fun activities to learn how to sequence numbers. Using the colorful resources provided, such as seals balancing beach balls and insects in jars, students practice placing objects in numerical order.

Students then practice their skills using the computer. They open Kid Pix Deluxe 4 and experiment with numbers in the Animations library. The animated numbers from one to ten must be found and placed in order on the canvas. Using the Sounds library, music is added. Now, as the students "play" their picture, it appears as if the numbers are marching to a beat!
