Elementary Computer Lesson Plans

TechnoCop Icon Join the TechnoCop Police Academy. After some training, the recruits use the TechnoCop database to solve silly crimes such as the Case of the Cookie Crook and the Blank Screen Bandit.

Session 1 TechnoCop Training

Students enter the computer lab as new recruits. Their first assignment is to investigate the Microsoft Word program window. By following step by step instructions in the TechnoCop elementary computer lesson plans, students learn how to:

Elementary Computer Lesson Plans - Students play the role of policemen as they use a database to solve mysteries.
  • format text
  • draw shapes
  • create WordArt
These skills are essential for any “TechnoCop” and will be used in the next session to make a police badge.

Session 2 Badge of Courage

All TechnoCops need a badge! Students watch a presentation, included in the project resources, about real police badges.

Once students are familiar with the appearance and content of a badge, they follow detailed instructions in the TechnoCop elementary lesson plans to create their own badge. Using shapes and WordArt, they create a one-of-a-kind police badge. Elementary Computer Lesson Plans - Students use Microsoft Word to design their own badge.

Session 3 TechnoCop Database

Students use the TechnoCop database, provided with the technology project, to become familiar with the concept of a database. Then they learn to add a new record to include information about themselves: name, badge, and rank.

Session 4 Looking for Crooks

The fun continues as students examine the crooks in the TechnoCop database. Following directions in the elementary computer lesson plans, they learn how to filter the records to find the crooks who match specific traits. Using Filter By Form, they are able to narrow down a list of possible suspects.
