To begin, students select a destination. Some ideas for selecting a destination include:
- Local Community: Attract tourists to your community by promoting local events and sites.
- Familiar Vacation Spot: Select a favorite family vacation students have taken.
- Location based on Curriculum Unit: Pick a location that is part of a curriculum unit.
- Destination for a Type of Tourist: Plan a weekend getaway for families, couples, or seniors.
Once students have selected a destination, they use Windows Internet Explorer to research facts about the location. The travel lesson plan contains step by step instructions explaining how to organize information. Students use a checklist to remain focused during the research process.
