TechnoHTML

Learn HTML - HTML Lesson Plans for Beginners

TechnoHTML Icon Middle school students construct a web page using HTML coding. They use basic HTML tags to format a background, text, graphics, and hyperlinks. Upon completion, the web page is uploaded to the WWW.

Session 1 Seeking the Source

The HTML lesson plans in TechnoHTML are designed for beginners. To start, students learn about the history of the Internet and HTML. Afterwards, they gain an understanding of HTML tags, by viewing a sample web page about mountain biking, provided with the project. Using a worksheet, students examine the HTML to locate common code fragments.

Session 2 Cracking the Code

To gain a better grasp of how HTML coding works, students next experiment with editing a web page. Using a provided sample, they make changes to the source code in Notepad and then look at the web page in Microsoft Internet Explorer to see what changes have occurred.

Session 3 Get Started with HTML Tags

With the planner completed and coding practice done, students are ready to begin their own web page. Following detailed instructions, students write the HTML coding to create a web page. They switch from Notepad to Internet Explorer to observe and check the actual results.

TechnoHTML includes instruction for beginners as well as a fun review of code fragments.

Provided with the lesson plans are questions that assess students' comprehension of HTML code. The review will help beginners to quickly gain confidence and expertise. All assessment tools are provided in Microsoft Word format, so they can be customized.

Integrate Technology into Curriculum
The subject of the web page can be based on student interests such as hobbies, sports, music, video games, famous people, movies, or important issues. Alternatively, the web page can be integrated into curriculum, by selecting a topic in History, Geography, or Social Studies.
