PowerPoint Lesson Plans for Kids

TechnoTribute Icon Celebrate the life of someone special. Create a "TechnoTribute" about a family member, friend, teacher, or personal hero. Summarize their contributions in an animated PowerPoint slide show.

Celebrate the Life of Someone Special

Do you need to give a presentation at the Grade 8 Graduation? Is your principal retiring? Are parents visiting the school for Open House? Are you celebrating a special community hero, historical figure, or personal champion?

Whether you are new to using Microsoft PowerPoint or a seasoned user, TechnoTribute is for YOU! The detailed, step by step PowerPoint lesson plans help your students make a presentation for someone special.

Part 1 Who is Tribute Worthy?

It is easy to create a “TechnoTribute” using the detailed PowerPoint lesson plans. The tribute includes biographical data, character traits, accomplishments, and goals of the honouree arranged attractively on PowerPoint slides.

To begin, students conduct an interview, asking questions to learn more about the honouree. A research planner helps them to organize the information.

Using a digital camera, scanner, or the Internet, students gather three photographs of the honouree which will be used in the tribute.

Part 2 Biography

Step by step instructions show how to create the first two slides: a title slide and a biography slide.

Even students new to PowerPoint can easily learn how to:

  • apply a slide design
  • search for, insert, and format clip art
  • add text
  • insert a saved picture

Part 4 Tribute Time

The final step is to:

  • add animation effects to text and objects
  • choose transitions between slides
  • set timings for each slide

When all tributes have been completed, students share their slide shows.

Merge Individual Presentations into One Slide Show

Each student can make his or her own presentation. The slides can then be combined with classmates’ presentations to create ONE SLIDESHOW. Instructions are included for the teacher to merge individual presentations into one slide show.

Enjoy the Celebration and Avoid the Stress

The inspiration for TechnoTribute came from teachers at our research and development center, John Knox Christian School (JKCS). Each year the grade seven students make a tribute to the grade eight students. The slide show is shown to parents at the graduation ceremony. The tribute includes information and pictures about each student in the graduating class combined into a multimedia presentation. Have fun with these PowerPoint Lesson Plans for kids.

TechnoKids Inc. created a project that could easily be completed by students, making it fun and easy for them to prepare a TechnoTribute during computer class while learning valuable technology skills.
